Year 2021.įree Resources: Notating Harp Music In Sibelius: Is that not a subscription?Īn experienced user of Sibelius. There is no way to continue with Sibelius Ultimate without making a payment every year, without having a version that cannot be easily updated. You can crossgrade to Dorico from Sib 7.1.3 (though in crossgrading to the Sib subscription you need to "surrender" your perpetual license to Sib 7.1.3, so I don't know if the Dorico crossgrade requires an active "perpetual license", or just some indication of ownership). Or before your subscription runs out, convert all your scores to MusicXML, bite the bullet, and switch to MuseScore or Dorico. If you stop your subscription you still can at least view and print your scores, and edit scores with fewer than 4 staves (it reverts to "Sibelius First"), and you can restart a subscription any time. The Windows laptop is actually a pretty good idea. ![]() Think about it again in 2 years when the price goes up. Subscribe for 2 years for less the the "update and support" plan, plus no $600 upfront cost. In doing the crossgrade you will "surrender" your perpetual license.Ī "perpetual license" has to be continually updated for $89/year as well, or you can end up in the same place you are now. After than it is $199/ year to subscribe. You can crossgrade your perpetual license for $79 for the first year, then resubscribe for another year for $79.
